The San Ysidro School District has standardized on Chromebooks for students in grades 3rd-8th grade.
The District Technology Advisory Committee has recommended to the district, that Chromebooks are cost effective and will help continue further implement the district’s educational technology plan. The District will also use Google Apps in conjunction with Chromebooks to give the students of San Ysidro the best tools possible to give students access to technology on a daily bases.
Google Apps are free web-based programs for word processing, spreadsheets and presentation tools which helps the district provide students up to date tools for learning.
The use of Google Apps eliminates costs for commercial software and licensing fees which helps reduce cost for the district. Google Apps runs on an Internet domain purchased and owned by San Ysidro School District and is intended strictly for educational use only.This driving purpose for using Chromebook to increase student engagement, further involve students in active learning, and provide a reliable device for 21st century skills such as collaboration, problem solving and collaboration
